The ceremony site will influence the style, size and type of design you select. Designs for large spaces should be of sufficient size (height and width) to create an impact. Consider the size of the church, other religious site or hall as well as the type of location. Altar arrangements are generally more formal and may be set on a pedestal or other structure on either side of the bride and groom.
These arrangements complement the Bridal Party flowers and provide a setting for family photographs.

If you are getting married at a historic site, floral designs can be in a period style, such as Victorian or Renaissance. Outdoor sites are generally more casual; baskets or buckets of the Bride’s favorite flowers can be informally arranged where your vows will be exchanged.

Some Brides may choose to be married under an arch or other structure. In this setting, the use of floral swags or garlands may take the place of large designs.

The flower colors chosen for large designs is an important factor. Primary colors of red, yellow and orange will stand out from a greater distance (such as a long church aisle) while purples and blues tend to recede into the background. If you are planning on all pastel colors, the use of white to complement the pastels will add emphasis to the arrangements.

In most cases, it is more cost-effective to plan on using the ceremony designs to decorate the reception site. Likewise, an arch can sometimes be repositioned over the cake table and pew décor can later adorn the head table.
